Meet Katerina STEVENTON from Cosmetic Cluster UK

As the lead director of the Research & Innovation Pillar for Cosmetic Cluster UK (CCUK), Dr Steventon is committed to bringing her speciality of psychodermatology into the realm of personal care. Her passion for integrating emotional and mental beauty, mindfulness, and self-care into cosmetic science is evident in her work. Through her evidence-based insights, she delves into the scientific foundations of the skin-brain axis, offering a nuanced understanding of how emotional states influence skin health and vice versa.

In the evolving landscape of cosmetic science, Dr Steventon stands out as a visionary, driving the recognition of the interconnectedness between skin health and mental wellbeing. Since 2022, Dr Steventon has been at the forefront of this industry paradigm shift, leveraging her expertise as a clinician and consultant to the industry to pioneer holistic approaches to skin health. Her dedication to exploring the intricate relationship between mental health, emotional wellbeing and cosmetic products and treatments has positioned her as a pioneer in this emerging field. Dr Steventon has presented at the Beauty Cluster meeting last February in Barcelona and in September 24, CCUK will host a roundtable webinar on Skin Mental Health and Well-aging , curated by Dr Steventon.

As a clinician, Dr. Steventon emphasizes the importance of integrating subjective experiences, such as skin feel and touch, with objective scientific measures. She explores the sensory dimensions of skincare, highlighting how tactile sensations contribute to both physical and psychological wellbeing, including emotional regulation. Her multidisciplinary approach underscores the significance of advancing our understanding of skin health and mental wellbeing in the context of cosmetic science.

Dr. Steventon also serves as the scientific programme director for the bi-annual Anti-aging Skin Care Conference in London. The theme for this year’s meeting on June 25/26 was ‘The Science and Perception of Skin Ageing: Well-Ageing and Longevity’. This conference featured keynote presentations from industry giants such as Unilever, L’Oréal, and Procter & Gamble.
